WPS ArcMap Client
About
The
WPS client enables ArcGIS desktop consumption of WPS Processes enlarging the amount of tools available to users for geoprocessing spatial information. With the client it is possible to select one or more layers in ArcMap and use them as input for WPS processes. The result of the processes can be visualized in ArcMap again.
Currently there are two versions of the client available:
1) The
ExtensibleClient makes use of the build in ArcMap Graphical User Interface and can be extended easily to support additional datatypes. It comprises a set of Geoprocessing tools (export, WPS communication, import). They must be connected manually via the ArcMap Model Builder. Whereas the export and import tools are specific for each complex data type, the communication tool is generic and can handle basic datatypes, e.g. integers. New import/export tools can easily be added to ArcMap.
2) The
AllInOneGUI version of the client takes care of data export, communication with WPS and data import automatically. This version is limited to a small set of data types, however and can not be extended as easily as the
ExtensibleClient.
The user can
- select a WPS process
- specify inputs
- execute the process (remotely)
- add the results to ArcMap.
with in a single Graphical User Interface.
NOTE: For both versions of the client you will have to install the ArcGIS Data Interoperability Extension. However,
NO additional licensing is needed.
