Professional Specialist in Geocomputation

The School of Geography and Information System Services (ISS) are looking to recruit an experienced individual to support Geocomputational activities within the academic School of Geography.

The post will provide specialist IT support for Geocomputational hardware and software and requires expertise and skills in technical support, technical training and software development to support academic research, primarily in geographic information science, Earth observation, spatial analysis and environmental modelling. It will also provide and opportunity to provide research and education support and to support the related fieldwork activities.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject (computer science or a spatial discipline) and ideally have studied towards a higher level qualification in a complementary discipline. You will have the benefit of practical experience in supporting Geocomputational IT systems and demonstrable experience of service delivery, preferably in a quality assurance framework such as ITIL.

You will need to have an ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks and to deliver a professional and customer orientated service; excellent written and verbal communications and relationship management skills are therefore a pre-requisite.
